Owned three since about 2006

I bought two - one for my Power MAC 8 processor machine and PC & Monitors - though you can run both machines at the same time, it's pushing it and I wouldn't advise it. But to start one up and shut the other down - no problems. I then bought one for my wife's power MAC and two monitors. Both worked great for years.
First - sorry to tell you that batteries do wear out - I would guess I got about 3-4 out of the first one. When my UPS apparently "died" my brain was shut off and I just ordered another one as the first one worked for years without a problem - and trashed my old 1500c (MISTAKE). Then my wife's died in about a year later - this time my brain was on and I googled "OPTI-ups 1500c battery" and found about a dozen places to get them for typically under thirty bucks delivered. Replacement is about a 1/2-1 hour operation if you are handy at all. You can do it while watching The Dukes of Hazzard or something equally demanding of your intelligence. Since then I have just ordered the 3rd battery for one, the other is on it's second battery. The UPSs are just fine, no problems at all.
All I can say is this product is well designed and I know I have pushed it beyond it's spec of ~1000W, it holds up it works and it has saved my PCs and MACs from crashing during many power cuts, close lightning strikes, etc. It is a great investment of $200, you can't beat it.

Excellent; 2 months usage so far

Well, I'd read about the Opti's but found Amazon feedback spotty on some newer models. After extensive research here in Amazon, I decided on this model because it appeared to have high capacity and was an old enough Opti design to maybe be reliable.
So far, so good. I have my home theater plugged into this thing including a fairly burly AVR and a large plasma panel TV. Power where I live is horrifically poorly managed. The worst I've ever seen. I have a lot of electronics failures on surge strips due to frequent/long/severe voltage sags and other insane problems.
I've seen the power go out and see only the most minor blip on the plasma TV during switchover from wall current to battery. Furthermore, on battery backup, my new Panny plasma panel and new Yami AVR both seem to have compatible power supplies with the Opti's wave form.
1 Caveat: The above may not be true for PC's with newer 'green' power supplies. I've heard that some newer energy saving PC power supplies might not like the wave form when in battery backup.
I'll try to remember to update later, but for now, the first 2 months have gone without a glitch.
Unless you have a newer PC with energy saving power supply, this should be an excellent UPS and I highly recommend it.
edit: November 2013. I purchased this about 6 and a half months ago. It's still working fine, FWIW.

AWESOME!

We have owned our unit for about 5 yrs. and the battery just now needs replacing. This is an awesome deal for this workhorse of a machine! It has never failed us and saved us many times when the lights were out. I highly recommend this product for anyone. We would buy another unit if needed for another area of our home.
