Recommend but can be Tricky

Pros: Works with IP networks and multiple servers.

Cons: If your router and/or DHCP server is powered by the battery you're trying to control, installation will be a bit “tricky”. Since the instructions say to turn off and unplug the battery before installing this card, your DHCP server will be down as well. When you turn everything back on, the card will attempted to gain an IP address but the router or DHCP server will still be booting and won't issue one. Later, when you go to configure the card, it won't have a findable IP address. So, you'll need to connect the included serial cable and telnet to setup a static IP address within your network's IP range.

If your DHCP is powered on before you fire up the battery, you should be ok. But, read and follow the manufacturer’s instructions fully before staring.

Kind of "tricky", so good luck, and don't get too stressed, it should work eventually.

Great Product

The APC AP9630 UPS Network Management Card 2 is great. I would strongly recommend this product for anyone who has Smart UPS. It is design to shutdown your servers before the UPS runs out of battery in case of power outage. I also would add that the APC Customer Support is very good as well, so if you have need for one this is the way to go.

This baby does the job it needs to. We're using this to be able to remotely monitor voltage levels and power usage at all of our facilities.
