The CyberPower Smart App Sinewave PR1500LCDRT2U uninterruptible power supply (UPS) safeguards mission-critical servers, telecom equipment, VoIP and internetworking hardware that require seamless pure sine wave power. Its full automatic voltage regulation (AVR) boost/buck technology delivers a consistent and clean AC power, protecting connected equipment and preventing costly business interruptions. Patented GreenPower UPS advanced circuitry reduces UPS energy costs by up to 75% compared to competitive models. The PR1500LCDRT2U unit has a capacity of 1500VA/1000Watts, eight (8) battery and surge protected NEMA 5-15R receptacles, including four (4) fail-safe outlets for critical loads. This UPS has four (4) maintenance-free, user-replaceable 12V/7Ah batteries. The rotatable front LCD panel displays all major UPS vitals for ease of use. Ist class UPS

This unit is really HEAVY with 4 12V 7.2AH batteries. It is in a very sturdy metal case and comes with vertical support brackets as well as rack mounting brackets.
When in standby use, it is TOTALLY silent AND cold... room temperature... no plastic smell or hot case typical of many plastic case lesser UPSs.
Only when the unit is delivering battery backup power does it become noisy because of a cooling fan that comes on only when it is delivering battery power. I do not use it to operate my computers in a power failure... used just to save files and shut down several computers when there is a power failure.
The supplied software seems to work fine to shut down computers and after that to shut down the UPS to conserve remaining battery charge.

It's all about the support.

It's big & heavy rack mountable UPS & seems be made with quality. A bit loud (clicking) when trying to compensate for poor quality / inconsistent power, but it does it's job, well it did, until it didn't, from working fine & only 2 bars as far as the load. 30+ min. of run time, then
1. Battery Disconnects, goes to 0%
2. Receive an error "Name: Batteries are not present" which in turn leads to an instant "Available run time is insufficient"
(Zero battery is obviously insufficient), within 1 min., it's fine, "Batteries have been installed" & back to 100%
This would repeat & a loud alarm would go off (as it should when there is no electricity) but there was electricity, everything else in the office was fine, just this alarm going off for a minute at a time from 5 - 20 times a day.
I wrote the company an email, they sent a FedEx mailer to send it back. They said they received it, but the cord was cut. I asked if there was damage to the box? They didn't answer that question, they just said there was nothing they could do with a cut cord. What do I do now? Tell them to send it back so I can fix the cord? I didn't fight, I can't claim anything since it's their FedEx account & I will just move to another UPS company.
** Update ** 2/25/2013
After the reading the comment of my review, I sent the invoice. Just as promised a tracking number was furnished the next day & a brand new unit arrived a few days later, which has been working perfectly since. Thank you Mr. Miesen for your support, professionalism & follow up.

UPS

Overall the UPS units works well but the software is hard to use due to poor instruction as far as how to shut down virtual servers in Window 2008 environment. VBS doesn't work and had to call technical support 4 times before someone actually knows how to do it.
